SPRINGSOURCE APPLICATION PLATFORM RELEASED
=====================================================================
The big news of last week was the public release of SpringSource
Application Platform. The SpringSource Application Platform is a
module-based, next-generation application server that is designed to run
enterprise Java applications and Spring-powered applications with an
unprecedented degree of power, flexibility and production reliability.
Our server is based on a new Dynamic Module Kernel (dm-Kernel), which
provides a module-based backbone for the server that harnesses the power
of Spring, Apache Tomcat and OSGi-based technologies. The server is
available under both open source and commercial licenses, with a
comprehensive range of developer and production support options.
There has been widespread analyst, media and community coverage of this
announcement. You can read some of this coverage, or enrol in our beta
program and download the server by visiting http://tinyurl.com/6j2epe.

JAVAONE HAS KICKED OFF
=====================================================================
This email is actually coming to you from San Francisco, on the second
day of JavaOne! With thousands of people from dozens of countries in
attendance, this conference will be one of the biggest developer events
of 2008. If you're in town, there are three Spring sessions scheduled:
* Dr Rod Johnson, the father of Spring and CEO of SpringSource, will be
presenting Spring 2.5. Rod's session was so popular in terms of attendee
pre-registrations that a repeat performance needed to be scheduled!
* Dr Dave Syer, SpringSource principal consultant, will be presenting on
Spring Batch.
* I am presenting, "Addressing tomorrow's security requirements in
enterprise applications" (includes coverage of Spring Security 2.0.1)
In addition to Rod, Dave and I, there is a large contingent of
other SpringSource people at the conference. We've got staff from the
USA, Canada, Romania, the United Kingdom and Australia here this week.
Please drop by our booth (#218), say hello and receive a limited edition
"big taste, bloat free" SpringSource Application Platform t-shirt.

JAOO - FOR DEVELOPERS BY DEVELOPERS
=====================================================================
SpringSource is pleased to be a sponsor of Australia's first-ever JAOO
conference. Not only will there be Spring-specific sessions by Rod
Johnson and I, but there is an exciting line up of other international
speakers including Martin Fowler, Dave Thomas, Robert Martin and Steve
Vinoksi. This is the first and only Australian conference where you will
see such a diverse range of high-quality international speakers.
The conference will cover best practices, architecture and design,
enterprise systems, new languages, plus lean and agile software
development. Tracks include new frontiers, cloud computing, new
programming models, scripting and DSLs, plus server platforms.
There will be two JAOO conferences run in Australia this year:
* BRISBANE: 29-30 May. More: http://tinyurl.com/5bmfde
* SYDNEY: 2-3 June. More: http://tinyurl.com/6hl49n
If you'd like to attend JAOO, a special discount is available to all
members of the Australasia-spring-interest list. This discount provides
a 10% saving off the current registration price. Simply use promotion
code "springsource" when you register, and the discount will be applied
automatically. Please note the early-bird price expires on 15 May.
For those attending JAOO, come and visit the SpringSource booth to say
hello and receive your free showbag of SpringSource goodies!

internationally recognised, working with some of the best people in the
industry, having a chance to travel, influencing products used by tens
of thousands of developers globally, and actually enjoying the
excitement of coming to work each today, we currently have two
consultant/senior consultant positions vacant in our Sydney office.
If you'd like to have a confidential conversation about these
opportunities, or receive an information package, please email our
Regional Director of Australasia, Steve.Morris at springsource.com.
I look forward to seeing you at JavaOne, JAOO, our launch parties, or
